Silence in The Mass – How Much Do You Understand? Anything At All?

The Second Vatican Council intended that the members of the Church all participate more deeply in The Mass and other parts of the Church’s Liturgy. This was supposed to happen, the Council continued, through deeper education and catechesis for everyone (except the bishops, unfortunately, who obviously needed it most of all). After that, the Council said, people would be trained to carry out their roles…

None of the above happened. Thousands of years of The Holy Spirit’s work was cast aside and replaced by a man-made, man-focused “liturgy,” a modern day (subjective) equivalent of the Golden Calf. The writer does not assert, nor believe, that the N.O. is invalid. But the ability of the N.O. to be totally focused on “the people” — and, without authentic education, catechesis, self-awareness and a certain amount of self-honesty and maturity, this happens even with good intentions – has in large part brought us to where we are today.

Below are links to two articles on the incredibly deep topic of Silence in The Mass. It is not merely “being quiet” during The Mass, or a period of “no music” or “no noise” during The Mass. There are things, if you read on, that 98% of the Church have never considered, especially those who should consider these things, our spiritual “fathers,” our bishops, with whom God rightfully afflicts us, as He did to ancient Israel.

Read, and learn, from the pens of a two who have been blessed with a deep understandiing of The Mass and The Liturgy of the Church…
